Business as usual
We hope you're all safe and well during these crazy times. For us as a team, it's 'business as usual' - we have been assured that the race is still on and so our training continues. On Friday, Atlantic Campaigns released this year's race summary video on their website -check it out here- if anything, it's made us even more excited to get to La Gomera and get going!
Around The World In A Day
Last week, we joined 150 other rowers and teams to row the distance of the Atlantic from our homes. Organised by John of MadGiraffeAtlanticRow (TWAC 2019), it was part of the larger 'Around The World In A Day' campaign organised by cyclist Mark Beaumont. Every Thursday, the aim is for people to get involved running/cycling/rowing however many miles they wish in order for the whole group to complete 18,000 miles in 24 hours. The number of miles is then matched in £ and donated to the NHS. We had a hoot completing our miles and it was some good distance training for the ocean!
Our boat has been finished and is now patiently waiting in Burnham-on-Crouch for our next visit. We are hoping that some restrictions are lifted soon and that we'll still have plenty of time over the summer to get out in her. For now we'll just look at the photos lovingly...
Message In A Meal
FOOD. WE LOVE IT. That's why we’ve teamed up with ActivEat and their 'Message in a Meal' campaign. It kills three birds with one stone: you can support our campaign by buying us a meal, send us a message of support within that meal AND support our charities all at once.
How it works: you head to theActivEat website, purchase a meal and write a message of support. Each message is written on sweet edible paper and we'll only see them once we've opened the meals to eat in the middle of the ocean! £1 from every individual meal purchased will be donated to Women In Sport and RTHM.
So go on, get creative and surprise us with a poem, a joke, a quote, a challenge? (You’ve got some time to kill right now, let’s be honest). Oooooo WE CAN’T WAIT - THANK YOU!!
Sponsorship and fundraising
Thank you so much to those who have donated to our campaign - your support means so much and our Antics Club is growing! We've jazzed it up a bit and there are now £50 and £100 levels too. For those who are already part of the 100 and 250 Clubs - you'll receiving a nice surprise in the post in the coming weeks! Don't forget our Easyfundraising page too. When you use easyfundraising to shop with any of their 4,000 retailers, the retailer makes a small donation to say thank you and they send those free funds to our cause. We are still on the lookout for corporate sponsors. If you know of anyone who might be interested please let us know - firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, let's all admire Georgie's beautiful fence that she's built this week - isn't it magnificent!! We'd love to hear what your Isolation Antics have been!
Have a good one,
Atlantic Antics x
